Daisi "Jo" Pollard Sepulveda, Mrs. Ethnic World International 2012

January 27, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA) - Daisi Pollard Sepúlveda, the reigning Mrs. Ethnic World International 2012 has been named  Honorary Committee Member for the National Meningitis Association’s, “Give Kids A Shot!” Gala for 2012. Daisi joins the efforts of the National Meningitis Association to bring an end to meningococcal disease by promoting meningitis immunization in kids. Daisi will assist with various planning and coordination efforts leading up to the event as well promote meningitis vaccinations on behalf of the organization.

Diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis in 2006, Daisi has spent the past 5 years  overcoming the physical, emotional and mental damage of having meningococcal meningitis.  Daisi wants to give hope to people like her whos lives have been interrupted and shattered by the disease to rebuild their legacy. “When I was sick I really thought that was the end for me and I felt that all  that I had accomplished was gone but I made it through and I started focusing on how I could use this experience to  make myself better. Meningitis shouldn’t be the end for anyone.”

Meningococcal Meningitis is a form of meningococcal disease, a serious and potentially fatal bacterial infection of the tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Adolescents and young adults are at increased risk of contracting meningococcal disease. Meningococcal disease can be difficult to diagnose in its early stages because meningitis symptoms can be misdiagnosed as viral illnesses such as flu symptoms.  Many who survive meningococcal meningitis are left with serious medical problems including amputation of limbs, severe scarring, brain damage, and psychological problems.

National Meningitis Association

The National Meningitis Association, Inc. (NMA) is a national non-profit charity founded in July, 2002. The primary goal of NMA is to educate and increase awareness of meningococcal disease. The founding members were personally affected by the tragedy of meningococcal disease. NMA’s mission is to educate families, medical professionals and others about bacterial meningitis and prevention approaches to the disease. NMA is focused on raising awareness and protection among adolescents and young adults, many of whom can be protected through education and vaccination efforts.

LEGACY PROJECTS - COIN COLLECTION DONATION

LEGACY PROJECT

Foreign Coin Collection Donation to the

American Association of Young Numismatics

Here is what I donated and why?

Many people especially young people are obsessed with having money- notice I said "Having" not making, without the understanding of why they want it our what to do with it. Most people do not even know what money is made out of, where it came from or how it circulates. Foreign currency is even more of a mystery to most. Yet, foreign currency makes up most of the worlds local economies.

Most Americans have never experienced obsolete dollars, coins or huge transitions in currency but other parts of the world have and I think it is important for people to be aware of this. Here a Dollar is a Dollar but else where I Dollar could very well not be worth a Dollar next year.

Some of these coins I am donating have some value - other used to have a lot of value and now are worth nothing due to governmental changes, wars, etc.

The AAYN is a group of young people that are interested in how and they way in which currency works and affects society.

Beauty Queen Now Fitness Queen

BEAUTY QUEEN...NOW FITNESS QUEEN

It's not traditional for a beauty queen to be hosting a body building competition. So what makes this beauty queen the exception?

On Saturday, May 21, 2011, Daisi Pollard Sepulveda, Mrs. Jamaica was the mistress of ceremonies for the 2011 LA Muscle Championship held at the LA Convention Center. Along with hosting the event,  Daisi interviewed by various media - talking about her training for her upcoming competition at Mrs. Globe ( which will be held here in California this year). The Beauty Queen also posed along side Fat In Los Angeles Star, Armani Terrell. “This woman is Awesome. It takes amazing courage and a positive out look on life to go through any type of transformation in the public eye, especially weight loss,” says Daisi.

With training methods traditionally unorthodox to most if not all her fellow beauty pageant opponents, Mrs. Sepulveda now incorporates the martial arts training system, Ren into her normal regimen of nutrition, weights, and cardio.  The beauty queen trains with her husband David Sepulveda who is the creator of the Ren system, 3rd degree black belt and is also an action stunt master/expert for the film industry.

A former fitness trainer and instructor herself, Daisi will be releasing a fitness version of her already popular, "The Model Professor" a lifestyle series about self improvement with skills developed through modeling and pageantry.  With this upcoming release Daisi will inspire average women to achieving fitness goals beyond the going to the gym.

With the many fitness crazes out there from pilates to now zumba, fitness junkies are ready to try the new best thing. People follow by example, if this is how a Beauty Queen does it, what's stopping the suburban housewife, to the busy career woman from getting in shape.
