DIVA AMBASSADOR FOR DIVAS IN DEFENSE

Los Angeles, CA (April 10, 2012) In building awareness for those that have experienced domestic violence and sexual assault, Daisi will join Divas In Defense for their annual Kicks & Cocktails Party in honor of Sexual Assault  Awareness Month taking place April 16th, 2012 at Cana Run Bar at 714 W. Olympic Blvd in Downtown, Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by Jim Chimere and James Logan.

Working as a Diva Ambassador for the self defense program created exclusively for women, Daisi’s duty is to raise awareness about domestic violence to women of all ages. The reigning Mrs. Ethnic World International 2012 (Jamaica)  has been spending her year promoting her platform of "Legacy", empowering young girls and women to lead in the changes they want to create in their lives. For women who have been victims of violence this message is extremely important. “Most women have come into contact with some kind of physical or verbal assualt and/or abuse in their lives. Divas In Defense makes standing up for yourself more attractive and less conflicting with the image of being a woman,” says Daisi.

DIVAS IN DEFENSE MISSION

Through fun, instinctive learning; women gain the knowledge to protect and arm themselves while gaining confidence to be Fierce & Fabulous! Divas In Defense was started by two brothers raised by a single mother who was a victim of molestation and domestic violence. They are now fathers with daughters and significant others. They pledge to prevent the violence their mother faced to as many women and girls as they can. For More information about Divas In Defense

Daisi "Jo" Pollard Sepulveda, Mrs. Ethnic World International 2012

January 27, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA) - Daisi Pollard Sepúlveda, the reigning Mrs. Ethnic World International 2012 has been named  Honorary Committee Member for the National Meningitis Association’s, “Give Kids A Shot!” Gala for 2012. Daisi joins the efforts of the National Meningitis Association to bring an end to meningococcal disease by promoting meningitis immunization in kids. Daisi will assist with various planning and coordination efforts leading up to the event as well promote meningitis vaccinations on behalf of the organization.

Diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis in 2006, Daisi has spent the past 5 years  overcoming the physical, emotional and mental damage of having meningococcal meningitis.  Daisi wants to give hope to people like her whos lives have been interrupted and shattered by the disease to rebuild their legacy. “When I was sick I really thought that was the end for me and I felt that all  that I had accomplished was gone but I made it through and I started focusing on how I could use this experience to  make myself better. Meningitis shouldn’t be the end for anyone.”

Meningococcal Meningitis is a form of meningococcal disease, a serious and potentially fatal bacterial infection of the tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Adolescents and young adults are at increased risk of contracting meningococcal disease. Meningococcal disease can be difficult to diagnose in its early stages because meningitis symptoms can be misdiagnosed as viral illnesses such as flu symptoms.  Many who survive meningococcal meningitis are left with serious medical problems including amputation of limbs, severe scarring, brain damage, and psychological problems.

National Meningitis Association

The National Meningitis Association, Inc. (NMA) is a national non-profit charity founded in July, 2002. The primary goal of NMA is to educate and increase awareness of meningococcal disease. The founding members were personally affected by the tragedy of meningococcal disease. NMA’s mission is to educate families, medical professionals and others about bacterial meningitis and prevention approaches to the disease. NMA is focused on raising awareness and protection among adolescents and young adults, many of whom can be protected through education and vaccination efforts.

LEGACY PROJECTS - COIN COLLECTION DONATION

LEGACY PROJECT

Foreign Coin Collection Donation to the

American Association of Young Numismatics

Here is what I donated and why?

Many people especially young people are obsessed with having money- notice I said "Having" not making, without the understanding of why they want it our what to do with it. Most people do not even know what money is made out of, where it came from or how it circulates. Foreign currency is even more of a mystery to most. Yet, foreign currency makes up most of the worlds local economies.

Most Americans have never experienced obsolete dollars, coins or huge transitions in currency but other parts of the world have and I think it is important for people to be aware of this. Here a Dollar is a Dollar but else where I Dollar could very well not be worth a Dollar next year.

Some of these coins I am donating have some value - other used to have a lot of value and now are worth nothing due to governmental changes, wars, etc.

The AAYN is a group of young people that are interested in how and they way in which currency works and affects society.
